Welcome to ADDed Success
Imagine if as a kid you'd been accepted and applauded for your ADHD traits. If you'd grown up thinking it was okay to be different. Would your life have been easier? Mine certainly would have been.

Though you may have paid a price for 'thinking different' there's no reason your ADHD children need to.

Though my focus is helping adults live effortlessly with ADHD, many of you write to me about your ADHD children. So, when an inspiring Schwab Learning newsletter popped into my mailbox, I had to tell you about it.

Schwab Learning is a private, nonprofit organization that helps kids with learning disabilities and ADHD lead satisfying and productive lives.

Through their website, www.schwablearning.org, they provide tons of free information and resources to parents of children who struggle with learning and to kids themselves.

Their recent newsletter shares stories of well-known adults who have achieved incredible success despite struggling through school with attention and learning problems.

You can read the articles by clicking this link:

Read the articles. Get inspired. And please, please keep telling your ADHD kids how beautiful their brains are.

Remind them how proud you are of their creativity, kindness and unique approach to life. Tell them that in the big pie of life, school is only a small piece.

Help them use their creativity to find ways to get along. Encourage them to create a life that inspires them and allows them to flourish.

The Last Word

I'm a big fan of the power of self-talk. I believe the tattered sticky-note on my wall that says "What you say to yourself is your reality."

Did you know your brain believes what you tell it?

That's right. When you say "I'm lazy", even in jest, your brain will think it's true and support you in being lazy. Same with stupid, forgetful, scattered, and all the other lovely adjectives associated with ADHD.

Perhaps you're merely repeating the negative messages you were fed as a kid. Just because your fifth grade teacher said you were lazy, stupid or not good enough doesn't mean you are.

That was then. Now you have a choice. You can either be a victim wallowing in the old negative messages or step out of the muck and choose to believe in your greatness.

Become aware of how you talk to yourself. Eliminate the negatives.

Trust me. Change the way you talk to yourself and you will change your world.
